Best Budget Stays in Mirleft, Morocco

Last Updated on 24th January 2026 by Jessie

Looking for budget-friendly accommodation in Mirleft? This guide features affordable guesthouses, surf hostels, and scenic lodges – perfect for backpackers and value-minded travellers.

The surf villages in Morocco tend to offer way more bang for your buck when it comes to accommodation. Which is a win-win, because a surf shack overlooking the waves in Taghazout is far preferable to a sub-par chain hotel in Agadir, anyhow. And when it comes to budget gems, I’ve noticed that Mirleft takes the lead. For my fellow bargain-savvy travellers, here are my recommendations for the best budget stays in Mirleft.

Budget necessities.
  1. First and foremost, get travel insurance with SafetyWing. They’re super affordable and one of the few companies that let you buy insurance mid-trip.
  2. Book the dreamiest Moroccan abode on Booking.com. They’re my go-to for accomodation because you can save loooaads with their loyalty discounts.
  3. Or if you’re after the one-stop-shop, BookSurfCamps is the best place to find surf camp packages in Morocco.
  4. Find the best local tours with GetYourGuide. It’s the easiest way to visit places like Paradise Valley or Timlalin Dunes.
  5. Make sure you’re connected as soon as you get off the plane with Airalo’s Moroccan eSIM.
  6. Set up a Wise travel card to save on international transaction fees.
  7. And if you’re working online (or want to watch Netflix in your downtime) I highly recommend getting set up with a SurfShark VPN.

And you’re sorted.

Aftas Beach House

Best Budget Stay in Mirleft for Surf Shack Atmosphere

I’ve already sung the highest praise of Aftas Beach House in this detailed review. But I’m still so smitten with the place that I have a little more to give.

As per the name, Aftas Beach House is situated right down on the sand at Aftas Beach. It’s a small cove surrounded by rocky cliffs, creating a micro surf village for the handful of restaurants and surf houses there.

In winter, Mirleft is super quiet. Even on a busy day, Aftas Beach only attracts a few dozen people. Which means the serenity at Aftas Beach House is next level. You wake in the morning to nothing but the sound of crashing waves and the occasional gull. Dreamy.

Aftas Beach House only has 5 guestrooms spread out across the four levels, with a small restaurant on the ground floor. Each level has a terrace with primo views of the surf. The paintwork has seen better days, and the salt air has made its mark on every surface, which adds to the appeal in my opinion.

It’s bare bones, back-to-basics; as a Moroccan surf holiday should be. There’s a squat toilet that doubles as a shower, a gentle but necessary reminder of the water scarcity in this desert landscape.

If you’ve got a surfboard with you, Aftas Beach is your own private playground. Moroccans tend to rise late, and Aftas isn’t the spot of choice for most surf schools, so there’s a very good chance of getting the silky dawn waves all to yourself.

Even if you don’t surf, waking up to a window vista of rolling righthanders under a pastel pink sky is pretty damn special.

Aftas Beach House is a small trek from the village centre. About 25 minutes by foot, nothing too strenuous. But if you’ve got a car or enjoy a stroll, the sense of remoteness just adds to the charm. Hands down, best budget stay in Mirleft. Would stay again.

Prices: From €16/night for a single room.

Mirage House

Best Budget Stay in Mirleft for a Couple

Now I have to preface this one with a prediction that the dirt-cheap prices of Mirage House probably won’t last. The apartment is brand new, and I believe they’re testing the waters with a cheap rate to build a bit of notoriety. So I urge you to make the most of it while you can, and book Mirage House ASAP.

Mirage House was the second of my budget stays in Mirleft. And it’s fair to say I scored two for two. As a solo traveller (with few pennies), nabbing a whole apartment to myself is both a novelty and a luxury. Mirage House quenched my yearnings for all of the creature comforts, and then some.

This one-bedroom apartment has a massive double bed, plus a comfy lounge area. Not one, but two areas in the house to laze? Wild. The place has loads of natural light and a small outdoor terrace. Both big pluses for Moroccan homes that tend to have a propensity for dungeon vibes.

Mirage House is equipped with all the essentials. It’s got an oven, a dishwasher, a washing machine, and all the cooking equipment you need for a self-contained stay. If you’re looking for a longer-term budget stay in Mirleft, I recommend Mirage House.

It’s also super central; you only have to walk a minute or two, and you’re on the main street of Mirleft with all the best shops and restaurants. But still tucked back in a quiet neighbourhood nook for a wee bit of privacy and tranquillity.

If I were a couple looking for a budget stay in Mirleft (or just myself feeling treaty), I’d opt for Mirage House.

Prices: From €24/night for the entire apartment.

The Line Up

Best Budget Stay in Mirleft for Backpackers

This one kind of snakes in as a budget stay in Mirleft. As a whole, The Line Up is pretty damn swanky, a double room will set you back €36. (Which actually isn’t too bad in the scheme of things). But the dorm rooms are where you save your pennies. If we’re comparing apples to apples, The Line Up is one of the cheapest backpacker stays, and also incredibly nice.

Out of these three budget accommodations, The Line Up is the only one I haven’t stayed at myself. But I’ve had my eye on their socials for a while, and wouldn’t think twice about it.

The Line Up is a surf house and a hostel, providing a nice middle ground for budget backpackers to rub shoulders with the more financially blessed couples, families and digital nomads.

The décor is bang on. Combining elements of modern coastal home with traditional Moroccan furnishings to hit that perfect blend of surf village charm à la Maroc.

The dorm room is a far cry from the usual dingy, dank hostel offerings. With only four beds in the room, it’s super spacious and well-lit and equipped with fresh, crisp linen. Beautiful.

You can opt in for a full Moroccan breakfast, hire surfboards through the surf house, or sign up for surf lessons or a surf guiding trip. For a solo traveller, it’s one of the best budget stays in Mirleft for getting your family holiday fix.

Prices: From €10 for a single bed in a mixed dorm.
