Best Hostels in Tamraght, Morocco for 2026

Last Updated on 26th February 2026 by Jessie

My top recommendations for hostels in Tamraght, based on popularity, guest reviews and a little insider knowledge on the goings on of this bustling surf town.

Tamraght is nipping at the heels of Taghazout in the race for top Moroccan surf destination for youngens. There is a thriving expat and digital nomad community, which means there’s always loads going on. It’s situated within close proximity to several other popular surf villages. And it’s got a laidback atmosphere that resonates with those seeking a little time out from the rat race of life back home.

Most of the buildings in Tamraght are holiday rentals, so there’s no shortage of hostel options. – making the hunt for quality digs a bit overwhelming. Whilst there are some epic, high-quality, good value for money hostels and surfhouses, there are also plenty of sketchy , half-assed efforts that have you wondering if you’re just renting a bed in someone’s spare room. But fear not, as I’ve taken the guesswork out of it by sifting through the plethora of hostels in Tamraght and bringing forth the crème de la crème. You’re welcome.

  1. First and foremost, get travel insurance with SafetyWing. They’re super affordable and one of the few companies that let you buy insurance mid-trip.
  2. Book the dreamiest Moroccan abode on Booking.com. They’re my go-to for accomodation because you can save loooaads with their loyalty discounts.
  3. Or if you’re after the one-stop-shop, BookSurfCamps is the best place to find surf camp packages in Morocco.
  4. Find the best local tours with GetYourGuide. It’s the easiest way to visit places like Paradise Valley or Timlalin Dunes.
  5. Make sure you’re connected as soon as you get off the plane with Airalo’s Moroccan eSIM.
  6. Set up a Wise travel card to save on international transaction fees.
  7. And if you’re working online (or want to watch Netflix in your downtime) I highly recommend getting set up with a SurfShark VPN.

And you’re sorted.

What are Tamraght Hostels Like?

In my opinion, Tamraght has some of the best hostel options in all of Morocco. Partly due to the sheer number of competitors – the hostels in Tamraght really need to step up their game if they want to stand out from the crowd. But it also comes down to the laidback village atmosphere and the type of travellers that the town attracts.

They’re super affordable too. You can expect to pay between €8 – €20 for a bed in a dorm at a top-rated hostel in Tamraght. Often this also includes a breakfast spread (usually incredible), and sometimes you can opt in for a communal dinner.

Most of the hostels in Tamraght offer surf packages and other activities. Some will host sunset yoga classes on the rooftop, weekly barbecue nights, or group day trips to Paradise Valley or Imsouane. It’s worth checking out the extras on offer if you’re a solo traveller looking for a little company on your adventures.

The Top 9 Hostels in Tamraght

1. The Lunar Surf House

Lunar Surf House is always one of my top recommendations for hostels in Tamraght. I stayed there back in 2017, when Tamraght was just a shadow of Taghazout, and there were only a handful of accommodation options in town. It was one of the best hostels I’d stayed in back then, and it’s only gotten better since then.

They’ve secured one of the best locations in town, only a short walk from the beach and sitting alongside a bunch of the best cafes and restaurants. The decor is fun and bright, and they’ve got a great little rooftop on which they serve breakfast and communal dinners.

Lunar Surf House is a really good option for those wanting to embark on all the usual extracurricular activities: surf lessons, yoga classes and trips to Paradise Valley. They also organise all-inclusive trips to the desert – one of the only hostels in Tamraght to do so (to my knowledge).

Dorms start at €15 with breakfast included.

2. The Flow Host

The Flow Host opened its doors in 2025, but they’ve quickly built a reputation as one of the best social hostels in Tamraght. The place is owned and run by one of the most familiar faces at Taghazout skatepark, which is largely why the place has achieved such a strong community atmosphere.

The hostel is situated in upper Tamraght – a little further from the beach, but still in close proximity to a bunch of great cafes like Hey Yallah and Cafe Zawya. Plus, they’ve got a sweet rooftop to bank on the hilltop views, equipped with hammocks and a juice bar.

The guys running the show make a prime example of Moroccan hospitality. Super relaxed and always accommodating. Surfing, skating, yoga or day trips – say the word and they’ll make it happen for you. They make a great breakfast that you can opt in for.

Dorms start at €18; optional breakfast for €7.

3. Cactus Surf & Skate House

Magic sunset views from Cactus’ rooftop terrace.

Also situated in upper Tamraght, Cactus is another Tamraght hostel that leans into the skate-adjacent atmosphere of the village. It’s owned and run by a couple of local skaters who impart that laidback, community atmosphere. A bit of a trek up to the top of the hill, but the panoramic views make it worth it.

The terrace is spacious and sociable, and the hosts regularly put on barbecues that draw in a lively crowd of locals and travellers alike. A few friends have stayed at Cactus, and I’ve had the pleasure of joining them for a rooftop barbie. It’s the kind of likeable crowd that you want to be around. So much so that volunteer positions here are highly sought after.

Dorms start at €12.

4. Olympe Surf & Yoga

Olympe is tucked back down an alley just off the main street – a huge plus for those that don’t want to navigate the big hills each day. It’s got a warm, relaxed, comfortable atmosphere – perfect for those seeking a quiet place to chill. It’s super clean and spacious, with a well-equipped kitchen to save you a little money on eating out.

Dorms start at €11.

5. DesArt Hostel

Yet another hostel in Tamraght run by skaters, Desart has been kicking around for a few years now. It’s beautifully decked out, with a bit of a mix of Moroccan decor and surf house style. The atmosphere leans more towards a mate’s place than a hostel.

The rooftop terrace is a communal hangout for local friends of the hostel, often dropping by for tagine nights and jam sessions. It’s an authentic and welcoming space that blurs the line between tourist stay and true community experience. I’ve not stayed at DesArt myself, but I’ve had the good fortune of spending a few mellow evenings on the terrace.

Dorm rooms start at €13.

6. Berber Waves Surf House

Berber Waves is more of your classic Moroccan surf hostel. You can rent surfboards and sign up for group surf lessons. Or if you’re keen, you can lock in for a full all-inclusive 7-day surf and accommodation package.

It’s owned and run by a local family, and the mum prepares an epic communal breakfast spread each morning. They keep it clean, cosy, comfy and take care of you like you’re one of their own.

Dorms start at €16, with breakfast included.

7. The cove Surf house

The Cove is one of the most conveniently located hostels in Tamraght. Just a short walk from the main road and taxi station, it sits alongside some of the best cafes and restaurants, like Chez Mimoun and Kisslaz.

It’s also one of the most beautiful and well-thought-out hostels, anticipating the needs of travellers to make sure all your creature comforts are catered for. For instance, each dorm bed is ensconced in the wall and fitted with a curtain to ensure each guest has maximum privacy.

You can book all-inclusive surf packages that include trips to Timlalin Dunes and Paradise Valley. Or you can pick and choose activities as you like. They offer an incredible family-style dinner for 125dh (€12.50).

Dorms start at €13, with breakfast included.

8. Sable Beach House

Sable Beach House is situated in the same area of lower Tamraght as The Cove, which is about as close to the beach as you can get.

They offer one of the most highly rated surf packages in Tamraght, or you can book it as a standalone accommodation. The lessons are high quality and well organised – a good option if you want some genuine progression in your surfing.

Dorms start from €15, with breakfast included.

9. Natural Surf House

Natural Surf House is also located in the lower end of Tamraght, just back from La Panière and Le Petit Kawa. Yet they still manage to secure one of the best sunset views from their rooftop terrace.

It’s got a laid-back, social atmosphere, perfect for solo travellers wanting to connect. They also offer one of the most popular surf packages, with experienced local instructors.
