See Tips for Booking a Surf Camp in Morocco.

  1. First and foremost, get travel insurance with SafetyWing. They’re super affordable and one of the few companies that let you buy insurance mid-trip.
  2. Book the dreamiest Moroccan abode on Booking.com. They’re my go-to for accomodation because you can save loooaads with their loyalty discounts.
  3. Or if you’re after the one-stop-shop, BookSurfCamps is the best place to find surf camp packages in Morocco.
  4. Find the best local tours with GetYourGuide. It’s the easiest way to visit places like Paradise Valley or Timlalin Dunes.
  5. Make sure you’re connected as soon as you get off the plane with Airalo’s Moroccan eSIM.
  6. Set up a Wise travel card to save on international transaction fees.
  7. And if you’re working online (or want to watch Netflix in your downtime) I highly recommend getting set up with a SurfShark VPN.

And you’re sorted.

Top 10 Surf Camps in Tamraght

The options for surf camps in Tamraght are vast and a little overwhelming. So, whilst I haven’t stayed at any of these camps myself, I have pored over all the previous guest reviews and delved into the perks that each has to offer to pick out my top ten favourites. Feel free to follow my recommendations – or not, it’s your holiday. By the way, these are listed in no particular order!

1. Tiziri Surf Maroc

Aghroud Beach. Tiziri Surf Camp.

Surf Coaching Package: €350/7 nights
Surf and Yoga Package: €400/7 nights

If I were booking a surf camp in Tamraght, I’d be chasing an unfathomable value-for-money package that immerses me deep in the groove of the village. Tiziri delivers exactly that. Their 8-day surf and yoga package starts at €400, and includes all meals and accommodation. Isn’t that mental?

But bargain aside, Tiziri is also one of the best-rated surf camps in Tamraght. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. With the quality and consistency of surf lessons, you’re guaranteed to improve your skills significantly. Children are more than welcome, making Tiziri particularly favourable for families.

2. Moana Surf Maroc

Surf & Yoga Package: €540/6 night

A beautifully designed surf camp. Moana is open and airy, with no bunk beds in the dorm, which is always a plus. From the surf house, it’s only an 8-minute walk down to the beach. This is something to be mindful of as the village of Tamraght spreads up a large hill, which can mean big hikes back to some accommodations. The ‘Surf & Yoga’ package offers daily yoga classes, rather than just a few throughout the week like some of the other surf camps in Tamraght. It also includes a trip to Paradise Valley and Souk El Had.

3. Solid Surf House

Surf & Yoga Package: From €549/7 nights

This one’s for those who prioritise appearances. Solid Surf House is in a league of its own in terms of Tamraght surf camp lodgings. It’s got a pool for one, which is a bit of a rarity. But the entire guesthouse looks like it’s been transplanted from Malibu. But looks aside, it’s very highly rated in all domains: surf lessons, food, group activities, and 5-stars for the social atmosphere.

4. Yuba Surf

Surf Coaching Package: From €315/nights
Surf & Yoga Package: From €399/7 nights

One of the newest kids on the block, but Yuba Surf has already built a strong fan base, with several guests branding it a ‘home away from home’. Housed in a beautiful riad-style guesthouse, the two local guys make sure every single element of the holiday is taken care of for you. All you need to do is show up. The food is incredible, and the surf lessons are high quality, with competent, patient and attentive surf instructors. A great spot for beginners.

5. The Surf Hotel

Surf Coaching Package: From €568/7 nights
Surf & Yoga Package: From €712/7 nights

The Surf Hotel is definitely one of the most popular and well-established surf camps in Tamraght, boasting hundreds of 5-star reviews from previous guests. Super warm, welcoming and hard-working staff that make sure you get the most bang for your buck. They’ve got a reputation for quality surf instruction that results in genuine surf progression during your stay. Plenty of guests have liked it so much that they cancelled other plans and extended their stay.

6. Let Us Surf

Let Us Surf, Tamraght
Let Us Surf.

Surf Coaching Package: From €338/7 nights

This one looks like it has the authentic ‘surf traveller’ feel to it. Less of a boujee holiday, and more getting amongst it with the locals. It’s situated up on the hill, so you’ve got epic views from the rooftop terrace. Previous guests rave about the food, the friendly hosts, the good vibes, and the guarantee that the experienced surf instructors will get you riding waves ASAP. Let Us Surf is also one of the cheapest surf camps on the market.

7. Easy Surf Maroc

Surf Coaching Packages: From €595/7 nights
Surf & Yoga Packages: From €665/7 nights

Easy Surf Maroc is one of the most popular and beloved surf camps in Tamraght. Previous guests rave about absolutely every element of the place. It’s situated in a clean, beautiful guesthouse with an epic rooftop hang-out area and the dreamiest window-clad yoga shala. The food is phenomenal, and the chef is super accommodating for all dietary requirements (which can be tricky as Moroccan cuisine is heavily gluten and meat-laden).

The surf instructors are highly skilled and take painstaking care to explain things to you in detail. They employ a local yoga instructor, which is epic (and apparently he’s top-notch). The rooftop terrace comes equipped with a ping-pong table, and they’ve got a bunch of surfskate boards on hand to make sure you’re never bored. It’s a little pricier than some camps, but you’re definitely paying for quality.

8. Surf Star Morocco

Surf Coaching Package: From €470/7 nights
Surf & Yoga Package: From €570/7 nights

Surf Star has been around for a while, which means they operate like a well-oiled machine. You’re treated as family, and the staff go out of their way to ensure all your creature comforts are catered for. They employ high-quality local surf instructors who tailor the lessons to each person’s ability. They also take you to a variety of surf spots to ensure you’re getting the best conditions of the day and a better taste of what this region has to offer.

9. Hang 10

Hang 10 Surf Camp.

Surf Coaching Package: From €490/7 nights

Hang 10 gets 5-stars from me as one of the few surf camps in Tamraght that is fully owned and run by a local guy. Who would you trust more to impart on you the full down on local surf breaks, village tips and cultural idiosyncrasies? Guests highly rate Issam for his surf instruction. The package includes photo and video analysis with individual attention paid to each guest. It’s a great spot if you’re serious about upping your surfing skills.

10. Blue Mind

Blue Mind Surf Camp.

Surf & Yoga Package: From €730/7 nights

Blue Mind is my top pick for the yogis. Unlike some surf camps that offer yoga classes as an afterthought, these guys make it a priority, with exceptionally trained teachers. The guesthouse is stunning and boasts some of the best ocean views in all of Tamraght. With a warm and welcoming atmosphere, I’d highly recommend it for solo female travellers.

What to Expect at a Surf Camp

Most of the surf camps in Tamraght offer the same packages, with the same itineraries, so I’ll give you the standard breakdown. Note that each place will vary slightly, with excursions and meals sometimes charged as an additional fee. So make sure you double-check that the package is perfect for you before booking.

The three main packages offered are:

  • Surf coaching – suited for beginner and intermediate surfers.
  • Surf guiding – suited for advanced/competent surfers.
  • Surf and yoga.

See my month-by-month breakdown of the best times to surf in Morocco.

Surf Coaching Packages Include:

  • Daily surf lessons with a local instructor – tailored to your level of experience.
This includes transport to and from the beaches around Tamraght, with the instructors choosing the best surf spot for the day, depending on the conditions.
  • Wetsuit and board hire. So you can pack light.
  • Breakfast and dinner at the surf camp.
These are typically family-style feasts of authentic Moroccan dishes, and often with more variety than you’ll find on the menus in cafes and restaurants in Tamraght. Often, the surf camps will host a rooftop barbecue one night a week. And most places will cater to your dietary requirements.
  • Packed lunches for your days at the beach.
  • Accommodation at the surf house.
Advertised prices for packages are usually for a bed in a shared dormitory, with additional costs for a private room.
  • Airport transfers from Agadir.
See this post for all transport options for getting to Tamraght.
  • Day trips and other activities.
The surf camps will often offer day trips to Paradise Valley, Imsouane, and Souk El Had in Agadir. As well as opportunities to go sandboarding at the dunes near Tamri, or hiking up the mountain to watch the sunset.

Surf Guiding Packages Include:

All of the above, but rather than surf lessons, your guide will drive you to the surf spots, fill you in on the wave conditions and give you free rein. You’ll have access to a far greater variety of surf breaks than those frequented by beginner surfers. This could include any of the numerous surf spots from Anza all the way up the coast to Imsouane.

Surf and Yoga Packages Include:

As above, but with the addition of yoga classes with a qualified instructor. Often these are both morning and evening, making the most of the views from your rooftop terrace.

If you’re planning on learning to surf in Morocco, check out my top tips for beginners.

Dramatic desert coastline of Imsouane Bay, with long waves rolling into the shore. Pink sunset skies and three surfers walking along the sand. Day trip offered from surf camps in Tamraght.
The dreamy Imsouane Bay. Well worth a day trip from Tamraght.

Surf Camps in Tamraght Without a Package

If you don’t want to commit to the full itinerary of a package, then most surf camps in Tamraght can be booked purely as accommodation only. You can then opt in to the surf lessons or other daily activities as you please. You’re free then to just go wherever the weather takes you and allow space for your own exploring. L’humdulilah.
