Wondering how to get to Imsouane? This guide covers all your transport options—from Agadir, Taghazout, or Essaouira – plus local tips to make your trip smooth.
Imsouane is a small fishing village situated in the Sousa-Massa region of Morocco’s central coast. There are no bus or train routes directly to Imsouane, so transport to the village is a little less straightforward than the likes of Taghazout and Tamraght. But fear not, I have composed this conclusive guide on how to get to Imsouane, so you don’t have to miss out on your shot at North Africa’s most glorified wave.

Moroccan Travel Essentials
- First and foremost, get travel insurance with SafetyWing. They’re super affordable and one of the few companies that let you buy insurance mid-trip.
- Book the dreamiest Moroccan abode on Booking.com. They’re my go-to for accomodation because you can save loooaads with their loyalty discounts.
- Or if you’re after the one-stop-shop, BookSurfCamps is the best place to find surf camp packages in Morocco.
- Find the best local tours with GetYourGuide. It’s the easiest way to visit places like Paradise Valley or Timlalin Dunes.
- Make sure you’re connected as soon as you get off the plane with Airalo’s Moroccan eSIM.
- Set up a Wise travel card to save on international transaction fees.
- And if you’re working online (or want to watch Netflix in your downtime) I highly recommend getting set up with a SurfShark VPN.
And you’re sorted.
Which Airport is Closest to Imsouane?
The closest airport to Imsouane is Essaouira-Mogador, 85km north of the village. However, international flights into Essaouira are limited, so depending on where you’re coming from, Agadir Al Massira (118km) or Marrakesh Menara (260km) will likely be your best bets.
Getting to Imsouane from Essaouira
There are no direct buses connecting Essaouira and Imsouane, so your transport options are: shuttle, private taxi, bus/taxi combo, or hire a car and drive.

Shuttle from Essaouira to Imsouane
The company Souk to Surf runs daily shuttle buses from Essaouira to Imsouane. Tickets cost €12 per person (including luggage) and can be purchased online.
See all Souk to Surf routes to Imsouane below.
Taxi from Essaouira to Imsouane
From the Grand Taxi Station (Gare des Grand Taxi) in Essaouira, you can catch a taxi to Imsouane. You will pay for the whole car, so the more people you have to share the trip with, the more financially sound it will be.
Find an eager taxi driver, make your request, and expect to barter a little. I can’t give an exact price, but 100dh (€10) or less, per person, is pretty reasonable.
Bus from Essaouira to Tamanar
You can catch a CTM bus from Essaouira to Tamanar, then catch a taxi to Imsouane.
Buses leave from the CTM station in Essaouira at 14:30, 16:30 and 19:30 and take between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the route.
Bus ticket: 45dh (around €4.50).

If flying into Agadir Al Massira, you can catch a taxi directly from the airport to Imsouane. Just outside the departures hall, you will find the taxi rank. All of the taxis follow a set fare guide (you will see a sign indicating all routes and prices), so you don’t need to barter.
A private taxi from Agadir Airport to Imsouane will cost 750dh (€75). Which is fairly steep, so finding pals to share the ride with is advised.
There is an extra fee of 20dh (€2) for each large piece of luggage.

Alternatively, you can minimise the cost by taking the airport bus to the centre of Agadir and catching a collective taxi from there.

From there, you will need to catch a petit taxi (the small orange ones) to Batoire Taxi Station. It’s an 8-minute drive and will cost a few euros (10-20dh).
Collective taxis regularly depart from Batoire towards Imsouane/Essaouira. You will share the ride with other passengers heading in that direction, and the taxi will depart once full. I am not sure of the exact price, but it’s likely 70-100dh (€7-10) per person.
