Where to Stay in Sidi Kaouki, Morocco
Last Updated on 17th December 2025 by Jessie
My top picks for where to stay in Sidi Kaouki, no matter your budget or travelling inclinations.
The calibre of holiday rentals in Sidi Kaouki is top tier. I love Imsouane, but most of the apartment buildings there are run-of-the-mill new builds. And as a result, they tend to be lacking in style, warmth and charm. Whereas the surf houses in Sidi Kaouki are more akin to the artsy, bohemian abodes of Essaouira. Fun and funky with a certain je ne sais quoi.Â
If you’re looking for accommodation in Sidi Kaouki, you’re in for a treat. Here are my top recommendations for each style of traveller and budget.

Moroccan Travel Essentials
- First and foremost, get travel insurance with SafetyWing. They’re super affordable and one of the few companies that let you buy insurance mid-trip.
- Book the dreamiest Moroccan abode on Booking.com. They’re my go-to for accomodation because you can save loooaads with their loyalty discounts.
- Or if you’re after the one-stop-shop, BookSurfCamps is the best place to find surf camp packages in Morocco.
- Find the best local tours with GetYourGuide. It’s the easiest way to visit places like Paradise Valley or Timlalin Dunes.
- Make sure you’re connected as soon as you get off the plane with Airalo’s Moroccan eSIM.
- Set up a Wise travel card to save on international transaction fees.
- And if you’re working online (or want to watch Netflix in your downtime) I highly recommend getting set up with a SurfShark VPN.
And you’re sorted.
Which Area of Sidi Kaouki to Stay In
The village of Sidi Kaouki is tiny, with one paved road and a handful of restaurants. Most hostels and hotels are central, so you can easily reach the beach or shops on foot.Â
There are several high-end holiday homes and villas located a few kilometres out of the village. If you’re travelling with a car, you could treat yourself to one of these.Â

If you’re an experienced surfer and renting a car, I highly recommend considering accommodation in the Ouassane area. This tiny village is 4km north of Sidi Kaouki, but puts you within walking distance of La Grotte (AKA Cap Sim). If you’re looking for quality waves in Sidi Kaouki, that’s where you want to be.Â
Best Accommodation in Sidi Kaouki for Solo TravellersÂ
Compared to places like Marrakech, the hostels in Sidi Kaouki are really good value for money. Super clean, bright-lit, with great hospitality from the local staff.Â
I stayed at Dar Iziki, and it was easily one of the best hostels I’ve frequented in Morocco. They’ve got a pool (!!) and a sweet dining/chill area in the backyard. Make sure you partake in one of Abderrahim’s home-cooked feasts; he’s in the running for the best tagines in Sidi Kaouki.Â

Thayri Hostel is a good option for those preferring a quieter atmosphere. It’s a small, styley hostel, and the dorms sleep a max of 4 people, which is always ideal. Thayri is located directly across from the beach, so you’re treated to oceanfront views while you breakfast. Dorm rooms start from €12 per night.Â
Best Surf Camps in Sidi Kaouki
For those based in Europe and the UK, Sidi Kaouki is the ideal place to swing down to for a weeklong surf escapade. For beginner surfers, I would highly recommend booking a surf camp.Â
Whilst there’s one surf beach directly in front of the village, often the conditions there aren’t ideal. So it’s preferable to have a car to access alternative surf spots in the region.Â
Surf camps remove that issue. All packages in Sidi Kaouki include daily surf lessons, surfboard and wetsuit hire, and transport to the most apt surf breaks for the day.Â
My top recommendations for surf camps in Sidi Kaouki are Smaylo Surf School and Ibi Surf School.
Smaylo Surf School offers standalone surf lessons and board hire, but they also link up with Dar Iziki to offer all-inclusive surf camp packages. The surf instructors are great, the food is the best of the best, and you’re welcomed with open arms.Â

Similarly, Ibi Surf School teams up with Thayri Hostel to offer surf packages for as few as 2 days. This is a great option if Sidi Kaouki is just one stop along your Moroccan surf coast itinerary.Â
Or you can opt for accommodation and a longer stay at their namesake, Ibi Surf House. This funky little stone house sits just back of the village, and would be the dream stay for those travelling with a group. In terms of surf lessons, Ibi Surf School is rated among the best in Sidi Kaouki.Â
Best Accommodation for Couples
Travelling with a partner (or a mate that you’re happy to bunk with) infinitely expands the realm of accommodation you have access to on a budget.
After tiring of hostels, I splurged on a few nights in a private room at Dar Afoulky, and can highly recommend. It’s a small stone house in the centre of the village, with ocean views from the front terrace. It’s cosy, funky, and the hospitality is great.Â

Auberge du Marabout is another solid option for couples. The rooms are super spacious, it’s central, and the service is top notch. You can nab a twin room with a patio for just €36 a night. Breakfast included! Plus, they’ve got blue checker floors which look fun as.Â
Or for a little more privacy, you can book an entire one-bedroom apartment for just €60. Little Beach House is fully self-contained and situated just across the road from the beach. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic rendezvous.Â
Best Accommodation for Groups
For group surf trips to Sidi Kaouki, I’d recommend Octopus House. It’s located in the village of Ouassane – so it’s ideal for surfing La Grotte. It’s a four-bedroom, fully self-contained apartment with ocean views. Sleeps 7 people, from only €79 per night!!

If you’d prefer to be in amongst the action (perhaps a stretch), Tifawin Kaouki is a modern build in the centre of Sidi Kaouki. It’s fully self-equipped, sleeps 6 guests and has its own private outdoor terrace. An absolute steal for as little as €65 per night.Â
Best Luxury Accommodation in Sidi Kaouki
One of my favourite pastimes is looking up a location on booking.com, then sorting the listings from the most expensive to the least. I’ll flick through the photos of stone castles and boutique riads and envision the alternate reality in which I’m living large in these abodes rather than worrying that I’m getting scabies from the unwashed hostel mink rug that I’ve been sleeping under.Â

Sidi Kaouki is a particularly thrilling destination to try this with. So whilst I haven’t stayed at these swanky spots myself, I’ve got big opinions on where to stay in Sidi Kaouki if you’ve got the cash to splash.Â
First up, I stumbled upon this one when walking to La Grotte and was in awe. Dav Mahal is a high-end yoga ashram with the most incredible ocean views from its hilltop perch.Â
Dav Mahal has its own hammam on site, a jacuzzi, and the option to stay in one of the geocentric domes. The place often hosts all-inclusive yoga retreats. Or you can book a standalone room from €110. Steep, but take a look at the photos yourself, it’s mental. Â

My next pick for a sandcastle in the sky would be Dar Gecko. This one is also up in Ouassane; there are loads of dreamy homes in the village. You get the entire 3-bedroom house, equipped with a pool. It’s €130 per night, so this would be my week away with friends haunt if I earned triple my current salary.Â
